Working for AASPA to build mentorship, provide resources, and foster professional growth that public education deserves.
For more than 30 years, I have been a passionate advocate, innovative leader, and unwavering champion for education. Throughout my career, I have built systems, strengthened supports, and elevated the voices of diverse constituencies—always with a steadfast commitment to empowering people and transforming organizations.
I currently serve as the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources for the Park Hill School District in suburban Kansas City, Missouri. In this role, I lead with vision and purpose, ensuring that every employee—from recruitment to retirement—is supported, valued, and positioned to thrive. My work reflects a deep belief that strong schools begin with strong people.
My commitment to AASPA is both longstanding and deeply rooted. I have served on the Time and Place Committee, Membership Committee, Scholarship Committee, and as Chair of the Recognitions Committee. I currently represent Region 5 on the AASPA Executive Board, where I bring thoughtful leadership, strategic insight, and a collaborative spirit. My service reflects not only dedication, but a clear belief in AASPA’s power to shape the future of school human capital leadership nationwide.
I have consistently shared my expertise to strengthen the profession. Early in my HR career, I developed an innovative interviewing protocol for paraprofessionals, presenting at AASPA national conferences and publishing in the Journal of Special Education Leadership. I have presented nationally on school district branding, employee mental health, employment law, virtual onboarding, teacher diversity recruitment through university partnerships, and strategic recruiting practices. Through national conferences, webinars, and publications, I have equipped leaders across the country with practical tools and forward-thinking strategies.
In 2020, I was honored to be awarded the Herb Salinger Award for the AASPA Personnel Administrator of the Year, and, in 2025, I was again honored to be awarded the Missouri HR Administrator of the Year from the Missouri Association of School Personnel Administrators.
I am deeply committed to developing the next generation of education and HR leaders. I actively mentor emerging professionals and contribute to both national and state-level work, including my ongoing service on the MOASPA Conference Committee.
My leadership perspective is shaped by diverse experiences as a district teaching specialist, building administrator, director of classified personnel, and human resources leader in three districts. This breadth of experience allows me to understand the challenges and opportunities facing school systems from multiple vantage points.
I hold a bachelor’s degree in secondary education from the University of Kansas, a master’s degree in educational leadership from Wichita State University, and a doctoral degree in educational leadership and policy studies from the University of Kansas.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, especially the countless hours spent at the ball field and basketball court watching my grandson do what he loves.
As a candidate for President-Elect of AASPA, I bring a bold vision for the future—one grounded in innovation, collaboration, and advocacy. I believe AASPA can continue to lead the national conversation around talent, belonging, leadership development, and organizational excellence in school human resources. With my experience, passion, and proven commitment to service, I am ready to help guide AASPA into its next chapter—empowering leaders, strengthening human resource efforts, and ensuring every student benefits from exceptional educators and staff.
